Healthy Cherry & Blackberry Crisp (Winter Dessert with a Superfood Twist)

Ingredients

For the filling:

  • 2 cups frozen or fresh berries

  • 1 cup frozen or fresh cherries (pitted)

  • 1/3 cup Eden Orchards Cherry & Blackberry Juice

  • 1 tbsp maple syrup (optional)

  • 1 tbsp chia seeds

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

For the crisp topping:

  • 1/2 cup rolled oats (use gluten-free if needed)

  • 1/3 cup almond flour

  • 2 tbsp chopped nuts (walnuts or almonds)

  • 1 tbsp coconut oil or olive oil

  • 1 tbsp maple syrup

  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon

  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C.

  2. In a saucepan, add the berries, cherries, Cherry & Blackberry Juice, and maple syrup. Simmer gently for 5–7 minutes, until the fruit is soft and juicy.

  3. Stir in the chia seeds and vanilla. Let the mixture sit off the heat for 5 minutes to thicken.

  4. In a bowl, combine the oats, almond flour, chopped nuts, cinnamon, and salt. Mix in the oil and maple syrup until crumbly.

  5. Pour the fruit mixture into a small baking dish and sprinkle the crisp topping evenly over it.

  6. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until golden brown and bubbling.

  7. Serve warm - on its own, or with a dollop of yoghurt or coconut cream.

  • Use frozen fruit to make this an easy year-round option.

  • Add orange zest or grated ginger for extra winter warmth.

  • Want more protein? Top with Greek yoghurt.
